As part of our commitment to the Rio Grande Valley community, NextDecade employees recently came together to support Good Neighbor Settlement House (GNSH) in Brownsville, Texas.
Good Neighbor Settlement House has been serving the Brownsville area since 1953, providing meals and supporting neighborhoods, and as the demand for basic needs has increased, GNSH continues to expand its reach. Today, GNSH’s programs serve a broad range of community needs. Aside from offering the only hot-meal food program that gives three meals a day, GNSH also provides access to showers and a mailing address for the homeless, a community clothing closet, and health services.
NextDecade’s employee-led campaign went for two weeks, and in that time, employees generously donated funds, which translate to 112 meals to those that need it the most.
NextDecade’s community relations team, along with Hugo Zurita, Executive Director, and Daniela Sosa, Volunteer Manager at Good Neighbor Settlement House, recently met at the facility to share a celebratory moment (being mindful of the health and safety of all involved) and to commemorate the success of the campaign with a check presentation to the nonprofit. Zurita and Sosa expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the collective impact that NextDecade’s employee campaign has on their mission to serve the needy in Brownsville.
“We appreciate the employees at NextDecade for their donations,” said Hugo Zurita, GNSH’s Executive Director. “The impact is really important to us because it provides us with the funds to feed the homeless and the community in Brownsville. It’s the way that we function at Good Neighbor; trying to get good neighbors to assist Good Neighbor Settlement House.”
Commenting on the campaign and commitment of employees, Melinda Rodriguez, NextDecade’s Director of Community Relations said, “I’m proud to say that our company supports Good Neighbor Settlement House and that our employees truly care about making our community a better place in which to live and work.”
During these challenging times, we recognize that the communities around our project need our support more than ever. We are thrilled that our employees came together in such a short period of time to support a very worthy organization that is changing people’s lives in the Rio Grande Valley community.
